Is my cat in pain? She meows constantly, gurgles, and has diarrhea.

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | unspayed | 12 lbs

Princess has times where she will just start to meow like crazy! This has been happening for weeks now. We thought she was in heat but our 2 male cats, stay asleep when she does the meowing and they barely mess with her. We are worried. The meow sounds horrible. Could she be in pain? Also she gurgles while she meows, and this happens after she eats and we know she has had enough. She even does this before she eats and also she has not solid poop. What do we do? What could this be?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Princess. Increased meowing in a cat can be a sign of hyperthyroidism. This is a disease of the thyroid gland. It can also cause increased thirst and urination, hyperactivity, weight loss, and/or vomiting. It is worth having her evaluated by her veterinarian. Blood work may be recommended to test for this disease. I hope this information helps!
