My cat is peeing excessively and frothy. Is it safe to neuter him?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Ragdoll | Male | unneutered | 10 months and 4 days old | 12.5 lbs

Hi my cat Oliver was going in to get neutered tomorrow . But I noticed the last 2 days he's been peeing through the day and then one giant frothy pee once a day. He's not straining to pee or anything but the one pee floods half the litter box. He's eating and drinking normally. Background info we recently switched him to urinary dry food and wet food diet because of crystals forming a few months ago. Any ideas? Could it be something normal or will the vet want to doa urinalysis before neautering

To be safe, I would do an urinalysis on Oliver before the surgery. Any increase in urination should be checked out by a vet. If he has had an increase in drinking, that could be the cause of the increased urination, but it still should be examined to be safe. I hope this helps!
