Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | 3 lbs

My family has a dog , a bitch and their 3 puppies. Today , the smallest of puppies was hit by a vehicle and got injured. He was given medicines and some cream was smeared on affected area . Now the rest of the dog family is running away from the injured puppies. Before the medicine , they were with it but not now. What could be the case and what should be done? Pls help.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding your puppy. I suspect that puppy smells differently especially after receiving treatment for the injuries. The topical cream may have a strong scent to the other dogs as well. It may take some time for them to adjust to this puppy again. If he is very young, try to encourage him to nurse and you can try placing him with the mom separate from the other pups to ensure he is allowed to nurse. If he is eating solid food, you may need to feed him separately to ensure he receives enough. I hope this information helps!
