My mouse has a head wound, lump, and won't take medicine. Advice?

Hi, wonder if you can help, my pet mouse has a wound on the side of her head, I’ve been to the vets with her who prescribed me some oral medication for an infection, I’m really struggling to get this into her and it’s getting worse, she also has a large lump on the other side of her body which my vet described as a cyst. I don’t think my vets are perticularly mice specialists and I just want some help and advise really as I’m very worried she’s always scratching it and lost weight too

Thank for reaching out about Daisy. Self inducted (scratching the head) can be caused by mites, bacterial dermatitis, fungal skin infections, ear infections, auto-immune diseases, just to name a few. Antibiotics are usually included in the treatment plan, as secondary bacterial infections from scratching are common. But is another of above mentioned causes, that has to be treated also. A skin scrape and examination under the microscope, might help with answers. As for getting the oral medication in, can you mix it with something palpatable that can be then ingested (bread, apple sauce)? Good luck.
