Can cats get depression? If so how can I help my cat? His sister was hit by a car, and he hasn't been the same since. Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 1 year and 7 months old | 9 lbs

I'm so sorry to hear this. Mental health in pets is poorly understood as we cannot speak to them, but certainly animals have the capacity to suffer loss. I would firstly go to your vet for an exam to rule out any other medical cause and also discuss measures to improve his quality of life. Enrichment and herbal remedies can help with these issues. Failing that prescription medication can be tried but as a last resort.
