My dog has growths. Does he need surgery or can we biopsy first?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | 8 years and 2 months old | 75 lbs

My 8yr old boxer/potty male has these growths and vet wants to put him under and remove them. Is it necessary? Can I get needle aspirate of growth to biopsy first?

There is something called a cytology where a sample of cells can be sent to the lab to try and get an answer before a biopsy. This could be done before for sure going under anesthesia to remove them. Without some kind of sampling, it is impossible to tell what they are unfortunately. Good luck
