Why can't my cat walk? Is sudden hind leg paralysis fixable?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 3 months and 18 days old

Hi, my cat suddenly stopped walking and seems to be paralysed from behind she tries to drag her self from front able legs. She doesn't eat properly and this has happened suddenly. Her spine looks uneven compared to the front. If its a spine issue is it fixable? :(

Monti have had a saddle thrombus which is a blood clot that cuts off circulation to the hind limbs and is usually very painful and not curable, even with heroics at an emergency veterinary hospital. Another possibility is trauma to the spine which is also usually not curable if the hind limbs are not moving/cold. I recommend bringing her to your veterinarian for an assessment and a discussion re: endpoints for humane euthanasia.
