Is it safe to leave my kitten home for 5 days on vacation?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Siberian | Male | unneutered | 4 months and 14 days old | 5 lbs

Hello, we have two Siberian cats one is 3 years old and one will be 7 months in April. We would like to go on vacation to Florida for 5 days in April but our concern is leaving the kitten home. They get along well and we already go to work each day and come home and they seem fine. But he loves to be around people a lot. We have a neighbor that can come check on him do his food and water except for a and she loves cats and has cats. Any thoughts or advice would be great.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding your cats. They would likely enjoy being able to stay in their own home while you are on vacation. If your neighbor can check on them twice per day, this is most likely a good solution. She can provide food and water, clean their litter boxes and most importantly provide social interaction. Be sure to give her your veterinarian's contact information in case the need arises. The only other consideration would be to board the cats. They would receive more supervision, but it can be a stressful scenario for a cat to be kennels. I hope this information helps!
