My new kitten is sick: vomiting, diarrhea, not eating. Is this normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 1 month and 19 days old | 2 lbs

My husband and I got 2 kittens yesterday. Thor is acting funny now. Yesterday he ate, but got sick a little while later. His poop was normal yesterday but today he has the runs and won't eat. He has been drinking a little bit of water and this morning I got him to eat a little bit of the juice off the canned food. I have tried Tina fish and Tina fish juice. They were given a deworming medicine before she brought them as a preventive measure. She said they didn't have them. Is this normal?

Moving into a new home is stressful, but it shouldn't cause Thor to have vomiting and diarrhea as well as not eat. That tells me he is sick. If you are feeding him a different diet than what he got previously, that could be the cause of his illness. Try to tempt him to eat with some boiled white meat chicken (no bones), but if he won't eat this or the other symptoms continue, take him into the vet first thing in the morning. Best of luck.
