My dog has a sore near her nipple. Can I use cortisone or cover it?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 13 lbs

HI ....my female 11 year old mixed breed 12 lb dog has a sore near her nipple area. She has been scratching it and it is becoming more red and open. It is not too bad. It does not bleed. Can I use a bit of cortisone cream on it? Should I cover it so she cannot scratch it?

I'd cover it so Precious can't scratch it, but I wouldn't use cortisone cream on it. This may be the wrong treatment for the cause and may adversely affect her. Have her seen by a vet for it so it can be treated properly. Best of luck.
