My cat has an abscess, fever, third eyelid showing. Vet needed?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 14 years and 1 month old | 7 lbs

Today my cat has come down with a fever, is lethargic, and has her third eyelid covering her eyes. She has had an abscess on her face for a few weeks that has recently gotten bigger but it is not against her eye. Is this a stye and if not could her symptoms still be related? Is there any home remedy for abscess?

Poor Momma Kitty! No, there are no home remedies for abscesses, these are pockets of infection that are very painful to the cat and must be treated at the vet. Because an abscess is an infection, it can cause her to have a fever and become lethargic. She needs to see a vet now, please take her into one immediately.
