What to ask a Doberman breeder about Wobbler and Von Willebrand?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Doberman Pinscher | Male

Hi I was thinking about buying a Doberman puppy but the only thing that’s stoping me from getting one is that I am afraid of getting one with Wobbler syndrome or Von Willebrand disease so how do I check while I am at the breeder to make sure that I am getting a healthy puppy.

Von Willebrand can be tested for with blood tests, and you can ask the breeder for copies of tests to prove the sire and dam do not have it. In terms of Wobbler syndrome, you can ask the breeder if they have a history of dogs with this syndrome. I hope this helps!
