My hamster has a popped abscess. What should I do if I can't see a vet?

Hi, my hamster has an abscess pocket that popped that wasn't there last night, I discovered it this morning. I cleaned it up with a cotton swab and water and I put betadine on it also. I couldn't get to inside the hole because he would wriggle out of my hand constantly. But I would say I cleaned up 90% of the abscess. Is there anything else I could do because I don't have access to a vet at the time.

Thanks for reaching out about Hamsy and Shamcey? Abscesses usually require systemic antibiotics to cure, so a veterinary visit is needed. Trying to keep clean with a dilute betadyne will help. Monitor appetite and water intake. good luck.
