Studies generally conclude that the human version of arthritis supplements are not able to be absorbed by dogs. Instead look for a supplement for dogs. The two I recommend our Dasuquan and Duralactin. Starting him on an additional omega-3 fatty acid for dogs will also help with arthritis. Lastly there is a food made by Royal Canin called mobility support. It is excellent for arthritic dogs. I hope this is helpful and please feel free to post any additional questions.

Glucosamine and msm would be the most important ingredients, but essential to fatty acids can also be helpful. I recommend brands that perform quality control like Nutramax Vetri-Science, Phycox and Synovi G4. While joint supplements can be very helpful for arthritis and other orthopedic conditions they probably don’t help prevent intervertebral disc disease that causes back problems in dachshunds.

You want to add glucosamine, chondroitin and msm. These three ingredients together have been clinically proven to provide the most joint support in dogs. These are actuallly either found in a joint food such as prescription brand Hill's J/D or Royal Canin mobility support. You can also find these in joint supplements like Dasuquin (highly recommended) or Cosequin. I hope this helps.
