Trying to find out what breed my new puppy is the shelter said he was part border collie. Also said he is about 3 months old today. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 2 months and 11 days old | 12 lbs

Newton is cute!!! Visual identification is incorrect about 75% of the time. The fact is there are too many breeds that share too many similar characteristics to pinpoint most of them accurately. That being said, this is completely a guess on my part. When I look at Newton, I see Australian cattle dog and maybe some German Shepherd. I don’t think Newton is likely a 50-50 mixture. He likely is a few different things. If you are ever curious and want to know, there are genetic tests available for dogs. I recommend the wisdom panel. It’s just a simple cheek swab.
