Recurring red spot on my cat's stomach: Is it an allergy?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Maine Coon | Male | neutered | 1 year and 6 months old | 13 lbs

There is this red spot that appeared on my cats stomach a few months ago. The vet said it was likely an allergy to his treats. When we took his treats away it went down but now it's back. When we got him a cone it started to scan up but it's back again.

The picture didn’t come across well. That looks like a pretty big lesion. Tiki should visit his veterinarian again who can provide an anti-inflammatory and perhaps antibiotics to help it clear up. If there is a suspicion it’s related to food allergy, check and see if maybe he has gotten some new treats, or food or perhaps gotten some human food that could be sitting off the allergy. Other causes are possible and new allergies can also develop. If he continues to have problems with his skin, you may discuss a food trial with your veterinarian. The diet I recommend for this is called Ultamino. It will diagnose all types of food allergies. I hope this is helpful and please feel free to post any additional questions.
