Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 23 lbs

He’s a 1 year old rescue- Flynn has temper tantrums? He becomes defiant if he’s told no or gets put on his bed, what can we do? He gets 3-4 45 minute walks a day but still has hyper episodes, he flings his bed around and bites his blankets, we give him chews and alott time for play but when he’s on one he can’t seem to calm himself down, any advice? should we ignore him or remover him from the room until he calms down?

Each pet is different in the best correction method. For most pets, putting them in their kennel until they calm down is a good method. One bit of information you did not provide is how old Flynn is. Younger dogs can sometimes behave like a human toddler. They will be very tired but they will not put themselves down for a nap. They can act out or become cranky. This is generally not a problem with a middle-aged or senior pet but once again, every pet is different. You are doing a wonderful job on the exercise. This is likely helping significantly with Flynn’s behavior overall. You may try having scheduled times to put Flynn in his kennel with no stimulation to allow him to sleep. See if this alters his behavior favorably. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions!
