Why is my dog with Cushing's peeing inside? Is it a UTI or behavior?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Cocker Spaniel | Female | spayed | 13 years and 6 months old | 24 lbs

Skye was diagnosed with Cushings disease 1 year ago and is currently on 60mg Vetoryl. Last month she became incontinent and was treated with 15days oral antibiotics for a UTI. She was accident free for the 15 days but started again so had a long lasting antibiotic injection but had more accidents after 2 weeks. Could this be behavioural as she never does this at any other time than during the 3 hours between her afternoon and evening walks.

It could be behavioral but recurrent urinary tract infections can also be common in dogs with Cushing's disease. Another possibility might be that there is something else causing infections like bladder stones or too much skin around her vulva. I think it would be best to recheck with your vet again to see if Skye has another infection before you assume that this is a behavioral problem.
