Why does my epileptic cat stop eating for a few days then resume?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 4 years and 7 months old | 9 lbs

Hi,can you tell me if it’s normal for a cat with epilepsy to stop eating for 2/3days then resume eating normally,smudge had his original seizure then nothing for 11mths until he started to cluster seizure in July 2018,he has 1/2 a 30mg phenobarbitone tablet twice a day ( every 12hrs ) & is doing really well on this medication & apart from the mood swings blank stares & possible hallucinations seems perfectly happy but the fact he stops eating really worry’s me yet my vets don’t seem concerned

I also do not like the fact that he randomly goes off eating. This could be secondary to all of his issues and not a big deal. Your vet can certainly run so additional blood work to make sure nothing else is going on. Or you could also get a referral to see a veterinary neurologist to run additional testing if needed. I would also talk to your vet about keeping some appetite stimulants on hand to help get him back to eating quicker than 2-3 days. I hope this helps!
