Fruits, vegetables and greens should account for approximately 20 - 25% of the daily diet. Pale vegetables, with a high water composition (i.e. Iceberg or Head lettuce, celery) offer very little nutritional value. Avocado is reported to be potentially toxic.     I am not sure what foods you have available in your area but my favorites are Lafeber Nutri-Berries/ Avi-Cakes and Mazuri small bird feed: https://lafeber.com/pet-birds/bird-food/classic-nutri-berries/ https://lafeber.com/pet-birds/bird-food/avi-cakes/ http://www.mazuri.com/mazurismallbirdmaintenance-2.5lb.aspx Fruits, vegetables and greens should account for approximately 20 - 25% of the daily diet. Avocado is reported to be potentially toxic so avoid feeding this. Fruits and vegetables must be washed thoroughly to remove chemicals. Cut them into manageable pieces depending on the size of the bird. It is not necessary to take the skin off. Offer fruits and vegetables in a separate dish. If your bird appears to develop a particular fancy for one food item, reduce its volume or stop feeding it temporarily to promote the eating of other foods. Thanks for reaching out about Cheeya. You are correct that birds need more than seeds/pellets to thrive. A wide variety of vegetables including greens, red/orange/yellow vegetables such as carrots and squashes. Fruits are more like treats, due to high sugar content. As per handling them. They can eat just about anything that you eat with a few exceptions. Ideally, Blue should be transitioned to a pelleted diet (Harrison's, Roudybush, Lafeber, Pretty Bird or Exact) and supplement with a small amount of a fortified seed mix mix, cooked grains/beans/pastas.

I read that I can't give my budgie lettuce from the internet? Is true I can't find a reliable source? I have given him ice berg lettuce before and he loved it and didn't affect him but is it OK for him?
Lettuce can cause some digestive upset in birds and runny stool. I would recommend feeding fresh fruits and other veggies (like zucchini, carrots, and peppers) instead. Thanks for reaching out about Kiki and including a photo. Vegetables are more important, including those that are red, yellow and orange in color, to provide a wide range of vitamins. Fruit are less important as mainly sugar, and should make up at most 10% of diet. Beans and legumes as a protein source is also important. Good luck.

I was just wondering if there is some fruits or veggies that both bearded dragons and budgies can eat. I know Kale is one but I am looking for other alternatives that are healthy and can benefit on both of my animals health.i have been trying to find
Both can eat dark, leafy greens. Vegetables such as squash, peppers, peas, carrots and corn can also be offered. Cooked is fine, raw is healthier. Fruits should be offered sparingly to both species to prevent loose droppings. Apples, pears, banana, mango, grapes and peaches are all acceptable. Be sure to remove pits or seeds.

The best thing to offer your parrot is a diet that consists mainly of pellets (80%) and then fruits and veggies (15-20%). Less than 5% of his diet should be from “people food” because it will not give him the proper vitamins and minerals he needs. The good news is that Rangu is still very young and you should be able to adjust his dietary habits fairly easily. Which foods should I avoid giving my bird?
You don't mention what type of bird you have, I am going to assume a parrot? In birds it is best to avoid chocolate, caffeine, avocado, onion and garlic, comfrey, apple seeds, pits/stones from fruits, sugar free foods containing xylitol (this can cause issue in dogs and we don't know for sure about birds), foods high in fat or salt, mushrooms, dairy, grit, peanuts that have become moldy, and the plant portion of members of the nightshade family (i.e. tomato, potato, peppers, eggplant- the fruits aren't toxic but the leaves/plant parts are). So I got my new bird this for now. But I'm confused. Should I not feed my bird seeds and feed it pellets or is the feed ok that I have? What else should my bird have? Can he have fruits?
Hello again! These items look great for King, but the bag is correct - generally, parakeets and parrots should be fed a pellet-based diet to avoid fatty liver disease. Seed diets are high in fat (even without the sunflower seeds), so should be given as a treat supplementally only. Millet should also be given in moderation. Your bird can definitely have fruits, but include some veggies, too! Grapes, apple, banana, broccoli, kale, green beans, and peppers can be great for birds. Avoid avocado, apple cores/seeds, cherries (with seeds - seedless are ok) onion, and garlic. Dried fruits are ok too, just avoid the ones that have added sugar. I hope this helps! I gave my budgie apple for the first time today, she tasted it 3-4 times followed by a vigorous shaking of head.. is there something wrong with that? Should i stop feeding her apples? She likes sugarcane so far.. what other fruits can i feed her some
It could be that Tweety just isn't used to apple yet. I would keep offering it to see if she starts to like it. Other veggies such as salad greens, strawberries, broccoli, etc may be fun for her to try out. Remove any uneaten food daily to avoid spoiling.
