What's that growth on my female budgie's stomach? Is she obese?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Hello! I have a 9 years old female budgie. I noticed that something is wrong with her stomach. She eats regularly and has stool, but there is something that looks like a growth on her stomach. Is she "only" obese or there is something more behind it? Please, tell me what you think. Thank you. Greetings.

That does look concerning and should be checked out by a vet. Bulging of the stomach or near the vent could be any number of things including fatty deposits, growths or tumors, infections, or even an egg that is stuck and unable to pass. If she seems in distress, seeking veterinary care ASAP is best. Keeping her warm, eating, and drinking may help, however having it looked at is needed.
