My dog ate french fries and is itching. What can I give for allergies?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 7 months old | 13 lbs

Anything I can give or do for my dog who got food allergies from eating french fries. He has been itching, but he is acting normal, eating and drinking normal as well as poop and pee. He’s just itching, thank you.

I would talk to your veterinarian about a dose for benadryl based on the weight of Tiny. If he is itching a lot and has hive then he needs to go to emergency immediately. Your veterinarian can discuss other great options for allergies also. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach

You can try to give Benadryl (please follow this link (https://www.petcoach.co/canigive/dog/benadryl/) Usually white fish and boiled rice would be a very digestible diet as well that can be given for 3-4 days, unless you have already a specific diet to give.
