My cat has an egg allergy. Are egg proteins in cat vaccines safe?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 5 years and 5 months old | 15.5 lbs

Are there any cat vacines/booster shots that use egg protin in them. I believe my cat has grown into an egg food allergy. We are trying an egg free food type now, and I am hoping it turns out well. But I know for humans there are vacines to watch out for if you have an allergy to eggs especially in infants.

Egg allergies in cats are rare, but the link below has more information on how you and your vet can help determine if Shadow has one: https://www.vin.com/veterinarypartner/default.aspx?pid=19239&id=4951526 I recommend you ask your vet which specific vaccines Shadow needs and then contact the vaccine manufacturer. There can be some variation between vaccine manufacturers, so it's good to ask about the specific brand. I hope that helps!
