Pet's info: Dog | Cavalier King Charles Spaniel | Male | unneutered | 4 months and 15 days old | 10 lbs
5-month old CKCS puppy stumbled down the last few steps of stairs. Immediately started yelling in pain for a solid 5 minutes. Tucked his right leg into his body and layed on the floor. Took him to emergency vet and he said the leg was not broken, gave him some pain medication and he said he should be up and running in a couple of days. The time's passed now and he still limps, although he is slowly starting to use his back leg more for support. Should I take him to the vet or rest it out?

Hello, sorry to hear about Nova. If he is still not using his leg and several days have passed, I would recommend having him re-evaluated by a veterinarian to confirm that he does not have any more severe injury. He may need x-rays and a full orthopedic exam to ensure he does not have joint instability or a small fracture. Regardless, for any orthopedic injury, he should still be rested for at least 10-14 days. If within this time, he is not improving or back to his normal self, he likely has a more severe injury. Hope this helps and best of luck.
