My puppy has red gums around her teeth. What is it & how to help?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pit Bull Terrier | Female | unspayed | 4 months and 21 days old

My puppy has red rims around a few of her teeth, and I don't think they're physical injuries. Can anybody tell me what it is and what can I do to get rid of them ? (Can't go to the veterinarian)

Hello, sorry to hear about Vega. What you are seeing seems to be gingivitis which is associated with periodontal disease. To improve this, you can brush your dog's teeth daily and provide dental care products from your local pet stores (dental treats, dental chews, etc). Eventually however, Vega should have an oral exam by your veterinarian to assess if a dental cleaning needs to be performed as well. Hope this helps and best of luck.
