My rabbit has a swollen nipple that doesn't hurt. Is it a tumor?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Female | unspayed | 4 years and 2 months old

Hello my rabbit has had a swollen nipple but she acts like it doesn't hurt when I touch it or check it out. The lady I got her from a few years ago said it should go down and she will be fine but it never has and I trusted the womans words because she has raised rabbits for years for 4-H. It hasn't got bigger or anything like that it has actually stayed the same size and color (pink). I can feel it pretty far under her skin (about half an inch). It is really worrying me. Ask if more info needed.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Ruby. I recommend that she sees her veterinarian. She may have a mammary gland tumor. Her veterinarian will be able to determine if this is the case and if the mass requires surgical removal. I hope this information helps!
