Vet recommends neutering my 7-month puppy for humping. Why?

A vet said that my dog(7months old)need to be operated because it started humping people too, and he told we should've given a particular (don't know name of the injection) injection when it was three months old, and he told as we didn't do that, our dog should be operated I'm confused.... Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 7 months and 8 days old | 58 lbs
