My dog has a sore, yellow, itchy skin patch. Is it ringworm?

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 1 month old | 70 lbs

Hiya I have a 1 year old German shepherd she has a 50p sized big of skin on the side of her ribs that has become very sore and yellow she had it on her back we treated it ourself at first as we fort she had cut herself and it healed and disappeared but it has come back on her ribs worse I’m not sure if it is ringworm as she is constantly trying to scratch it and she makes it bleed pleas if you have any idea what you think it could be could you pleas let me no thank you

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Lexi. I recommend that she sees her veterinarian as it does not sound like the wound is healing. She may need skin testing to check for ringworm or mites. Allergies can make the skin very itchy so this is a possibility as well. Depending on the underlying cause, her veterinarian will prescribe medication for her. In the meantime, place on E-collar on her to prevent any licking. A t-shirt can be useful if she is scratching at it. I hope this information helps!
