My dog is scratching her mouth with a pink spot. Should I see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 2 years and 1 month old | 19 lbs

My dog suddenly started scratching, licking and rubbing the left side of her mouth. There is a pink spot on her bottom lip. She had been licking/scratching a bit the last day or so but not much. It is slowing down the last few minutes. There was nothing odd that we noticed right before - she had come in (-24°C) from a quick pee and I had stopped her chewing my plugged in phone charger with no signs then. Maybe she ate something we didn't see? Should we monitor or take her to the vet?

Thank you for contacting Pet Coach with your question about Snickers. Given that this licking and scratching is slowing down, keep an eye on her for now. Should she keep licking and scratching or the spot gets bigger, then I would take her into the vet. I hope this helps!
