Why do my cat's back legs bow inward and seem weak? Neurological?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 10 lbs

Our cat has back legs that bow inward at the heel and do not stay straight on when he stands. When he lays down his back legs always fall to the side and he can’t lay down on them. Could it be a neurological disorder? It is not splay leg because the legs are close together and not far apart. They bow in more than the pictures appear

Cash could have a neurologic problem, or this might be a tendon or patellar problem as well. It would be a good idea to have him examined by your vet - they can probably determine if this is a neurologic problem or more of an orthopedic problem based on a physical exam.
