Can my cat safely take Restoralax long-term for constipation?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Norwegian Forest Cat | Female | spayed | 11 years and 6 months old | 13 lbs

Vet prescribed restoralax (PG3350) to treat on going constipation issues, but didn’t say how long she should stay on it. Is is safe for long term useage? Aprox 1/4 tsp x2 mixed in watered down wet food. It’s helping so if it causes no harm I’m hoping she can stay on it long term.

It is okay for cats to be on this type of stool softener long term. Double check with your vet to make sure they don't have any other recommendations, but otherwise I think you can plan on giving the Restoralax daily.
