Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Male | unneutered | 4 years and 2 months old | 6 lbs

My cat is suffering from chronic kidney failure with high creatinine that's 3.7 and BUN 94 now.I have given him tapeworms injections two times within 13 days as per his vet.but still today he vomited one live roundworm.i have given him oral deworming medicine few months back but still it's not working and this happens again and again.so now his vet suggested me to give vormox syrup 2ml to him for 3 days.so does these deworming medicines if given frequently affect kidney or makes them worse ??

The medication in Vermox syrup is mebendazole, which should not affect the kidneys. I would assume that the tapeworm injection was praziquantel which also should not affect the kidneys (praziquantel is not effective against roundworms).
