My kitten scratched himself. Is Neosporin safe or should I see a vet?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | 6 years and 7 months old | 5 lbs

My kitten scratched himself, needs nails trimmed. Going today. Is Neosporin okay to use or should I bring in ? Internet stated safe. No fleas or allergies noted thanks for your help

Hello, thank you for your question about Vinny. Depending on the severity of the scratch additional medications may be more beneficial/needed. While Neosporin is safe to use, if the scratch is deep or severe this may not contain enough antibiotics to prevent infection. I would recommend continuing to monitor the scratch. If it develops any odorous/white discharge or Vinny seems very painful in that area I would recommend having him seen by a veterinarian. Hope this helps, good luck!
