My indoor cat has a red scratch near her eye. Should I worry?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 8 years and 7 months old

My cat has a red splotch on her face by her eyes, it looks like something scratched her and that she's bled a small bit. Could it have been a bug? She's an indoor car who does not go outside. I noticed it after coming home around 10 minutes ago. She doesn't seem affected by it but I'm still worried.

It think is a bug is pretty unlikely. I can't think of any that are that aggressive! It could be from her scratching herself. If she is not on a good-quality flea prevention, that may be the solution. Fleas are a common problem, even for indoor-exclusive kitties. Other causes of itching include allergies, infection, mites, etc. If you see Sugar itching, it may be best to having her examined by a vet.
