My dog yelps when I touch her tummy. Should I be concerned?

If Itzy just vomited one time and seemed uncomfortable in her belly when touched I would withhold her regular food today and if there is no additional vomiting over the next few hours offer her something very bland like a small amount of boiled chicken skinless breast and white rice. If the vomiting continues or if she continues to yelp when touched I would have her evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as you can. They can isolate where the pain is originating from (stomach vs back for example) and can treat her as indicated. I hope she s feeling better very soon.

Your vet can do a physical exam, run lab-work, and take x-rays to help determine the source of the pain. She could have pancreatitis, an infection, kidney problem, back problem. etc. Please call your vet and have her seen so your vet can prescribe medications to help with any pain.

I'm so sorry your pet is so ill. It sounds like Holly may have an infection. Bacterial infection causes pet to shake and be uncomfortable, they are also lethargic not eating and have a fever. You can certainly check her rectal temperature and if it is above 102.5 degrees Fahrenheit, then an infection is likely and she needs to see a vet. I see she isn't spayed so it is very likely she has an infection of her uterus (pyometra) which can happen at any time and can be life threatening if not treated quickly.
