My old cat's eye weeps clear fluid. Could it be a dental problem?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 11 lbs

My cat has had a weeping eye for over two years now. I've taken him to a vet when it first began but they did not know what was causing it. He does not act sick or like he is in pain but I feel bad that he has this chronic weeping in one eye. The fluid is clear just like tears. In the past he has had dental health issues, I don't know if this could be related. He is 19 years old and still very chipper and strong.

There is a strong possibility that the weeping eye is related to a dental issue. The only way you will know for sure is to have dental/sinus radiographs done. Since t's not really bothering him, then you and your vet need to decide how much you want to do to figure this out. The diagnostics are available, it just depends on how much or how little you want to do.
