Pet's info: Dog | Maltese | Female | unspayed | 4 lbs
My dogs two nipples have been red for the past 3 days and one of them has a white spot on them. She has been acting normal and eating regularly but is licking them constantly. Possibly irritating them more since they won’t unswell. She has never been pregnant or given birth so I am not sure what it could be?

Dogs who aren't spayed have a 25% chance of developing mammary tumors, and this could potentially be what is causing Chloe's red nipples and discomfort. I'd have her checked out by a vet first thing in the morning. Best of luck.

Oh my. I am sorry that Chloe has what sounds like a mass on her mammary gland that is now infected. I would highly recommend taking her to your local vet soon to have this area examined thoroughly. She likely will need to be placed on a short course of antibiotics and also have the swelling tested to be sure. I would try to clean it as best you can for now, with Betadine diluted 50:50 with warm water followed by sterile saline daily until you can get her seen by your vet. This will at least keep the area sterilized until further action can be taken. I do hope that Chloe is able to make a full and speedy recovery and best wishes moving forward with her health. Take care.
