Why are my unspayed dog's nipples red, swollen, and have a white spot?

My dogs two nipples have been red for the past 3 days and one of them has a white spot on them. She has been acting normal and eating regularly but is licking them constantly. Possibly irritating them more since they won’t unswell. She has never been pregnant or given birth so I am not sure what it could be? Pet's info: Dog | Maltese | Female | unspayed | 4 lbs

Dogs who aren't spayed have a 25% chance of developing mammary tumors, and this could potentially be what is causing Chloe's red nipples and discomfort. I'd have her checked out by a vet first thing in the morning. Best of luck.
