My budgie is suddenly blind and showing signs of illness. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Parakeet | Male

My budgie seems to be fluffing up more often, pees clear urine every 5 mins, and had a bloated left chest (I think). However, I noticed that my budgie can't see anymore (since the past couple days). He is just going by my voice and is touching everything with his break before stepping forward. If I place him on a table, he doesn't know where the edge is and falls off. Please tell me how to help him. Thank you!

Thanks for reaching out about Thorne. A veterinary visit is recommended soon, to assess vision and health. Kidney disease can lead to both conditions, and is common in budgies. Removing perches and placing a soft towel on the bottom of the cage to provide comfort. Place food and water within easy access. Good luck.
