My cat isn't jumping or active. When should I worry and see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 1 year and 10 months old | 12 lbs

My cat is less active than normal and is not jumping up on things like usual. He is eating, drinking and using the bathroom like usual. We think he may have strained his back leg/s since he isn't jumping. My husband doesn't want to waste money on the vet if the cat just needs rest. It's been a few days. Should I be concerned? Or just wait and see?

Yes, I would be concerned because it's been a few days and Maverick is still acting this way. It shows he is painful, and he needs pain medications. Please do not give him any human pain medications, as many human ones are toxic to cats and are fatal if given. He does need to see a vet, please take him into one.
