How to comfort my senior dog who is dying and having seizures?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Tibetan Spaniel | Female | unspayed | 13 lbs

My dog is about fifteen. She hasn’t been eating much the past few days, maybe even weeks but that isn’t too abnormal for her, and this morning she couldn’t even stand to drink water. In the past three and a half hours she’s a had two seizures. We know she doesn’t have much time left and are doubtful she’ll make it through the day. Is there anything I can do to help her or make her last few hours more comfortable?

I recommend to take Whisper into the veterinarian asap. Mother Nature is sometimes not fast or kind. Some pets will linger (and sometimes suffer) for days before they finally pass away. The doctor will take a look at Whisper and let you know if there’s any treatments that can be done that may give you more time with her. Euthanasia may be an option as well. This process is quick and painless and will alleviate any suffering. It’s so hard to make this decision but sometimes this is the kindest decision. I hope this is helpful and please feel free to post any additional questions.
