My pet's poop looks strange. Is it normal? Should I call the vet?

I wouldn’t worry about this poop - a wide variety of colors are normal and it looks soft but still formed. If there has been blood or mucus, or if Lucky has had other symptoms like a decreased appetite or vomiting you may want to see your vet for an exam.

Poor Kai! You are correct to be concerned. Diarrhea could be caused by toxin ingestion, parasites, change in diet, infectious diseases, blockage in the gastrointestinal tract caused by ingestion of a foreign body (such as a piece of the bones you mentioned), or a mass/growth in the gastrointestinal tract. I recommend you make an appointment to take Kai in to the vet, and take in a fecal sample from Kai when you go. Your vet will likely want to test the sample to see what kind of parasites Kai may be dealing with so that they can be treated for accordingly. I recommend that you avoid feeding bones, antlers, and similar objects. Make sure with anything you feed Kai that you are able to easily dent the surface with a fingernail, as anything harder than that could lead to fracturing of the teeth or blockage of the gastrointestinal tract.

It's obviously hard to know for sure without being able to examine the stool but from the photos, that almost looks like cloth from a toy or something? I can't say for certain though that it's not a type of worm. If Buddy is in the habit of eating toys or other inedible objects, you should prevent this as they can cause an intestinal blockage (which may require surgery). If you still have the stool, you may drop it by your vets office to confirm what the origin is. It is difficult to see the worm in detail. It could be a parasite or it could be a worm found in the environment. To determine which, submit a sample of Hanfi's droppings to your veterinarian. A fecal exam can be done to diagnose intestinal parasites. If necessary, your vet can dispense an appropriate dewormer for treatment.

Hello and welcome to Boop by Petco. It looks like Starky got into either some food that was yellow and bean-like, or that he ate something that is fibrous, as it almost looks like wool. Without being able to feel it to see how it breaks apart it is hard to tell from the picture. You could bring the feces to the vet to have them look at it, however if Starky is doing well, I would just monitor his feces for now, and make sure he isn't vomiting. Best of luck with Starky!

If you are concerned about intestinal parasites then I suggest you have your veterinarian run a fecal test. Your other option would be to mail in sample to an outside lab for testing. Hello, thank you for using Boop by Petco. Great question! From what I can tell based on the photos I think the first two poops look OK. The brown one looks a bit more abnormal just based on color but again, that could be diet related. I do think taking them to the vet for an exam is best. That way you can get the stools testing and talk about the diet and all their husbandry to see if that is contributing to any abnormal stools you are seeing. I am sorry that your pet hasn't been eating well. There can be all sorts of reasons for inappetance unfortunately. And it seems our photo of his stool did not come through. If it doesn't look like a worm, then it may be a foreign object that Brady has ingested. If he has not eaten for more than 24 hrs or has any other symptoms to speak of, then a vet visit may be best here to have him fully evaluated.
