Dog's eye red with pus after facial abscess surgery. Is it normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkipoo | Female | 11 years and 1 month old | 9 lbs

So my dog had an abscess on her face right under her eye and some of the infection was coming out of her eye socket and I took her to a veterinarian this morning and they had to exstract a few teeth and stitch the abscess up where they drained it. She’s doing well but her eye still is kinda red and it has a bit of slightly red (mostly clear) pus still setting in her eye socket. I was just wandering if that is normal or should I be worried?

Poor Bree! I recommend to call the veterinarian and tell them what you are seeing. The best way to provide the best care for Bree is to keep the veterinarian in the loop and have her examined anytime something seems different. The doctor may want to see Bree again to be safe. I hope she heals quickly! Please feel free to post any additional questions.
