My 70lb dog ate 5mg oxycodone. Should I rush her to the animal clinic?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Female | unspayed | 70 lbs

My dog is pit bull/lab mix she weighs about 70lb. I think she took one of my oxycodone which is 5mg tablets. Do I have to worry about anything happening to her? Do I need to rush her to an animal clinic?

She may be a bit sleepy but otherwise she should have no ill effects. A dose of oxycodone for a dog her size is up to 10mg and she only ingested 5mg. I would not worry about this at all. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

The proper dose of oxycodone for a dog would be 0.3mg/kg. Your dog weighs 16 kg, so the normal dose would be 4.8mg. So this should not have any detrimental effect on your dog. That said, however, please do not give your dog oxycodone without consent of your veterinarian. It may not be appropriate for your dog depending on his health status.
