I housetraining, i know the puppy should never roam free inside the house, yet it should be on a leash / or inside crate, until it understands that this whole house is its den (gradually). Yet, I don't understand how that will happen. What's the logic behind. Now I'm keeping my puppy on leash inside. How do i make him know that this whole house is his den?

Once he makes the connection that urinating and defecation ALWAYS happens outside, he'll be fine in the rest of the house. It's not so much that he's on the leash inside, it's that you're watching him continuously for signs he needs to go out so that you never let him have an accident inside - the leash keeps him close, but doesn't do the monitoring. If you can't focus 100% of your attention on him, he goes in the crate. If he never has a chance to go inside, and is rewarded for going outside (and as he gets older and can "hold it" for longer) he'll make the connection.
