My cat has some brown discharge from his right eye. It has been ongoing for the past few months but recently has become worse and more noticeable. I also noticed some yellow discharge which then crusts over. What do you think it might be and what are the treatment options

Hi there. Simba could have a bacterial or viral infection, or something within his eyelid that is irritating the eye and causing the discharge. I would recommend having him checked by your vet. They will be able to test the eye and look for a cause, as well as prescribe meds to get it cleared up. I hope that helps. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach!

You will need to take Simba into a vet as soon as possible. It sounds like he has an eye infection, and leaving an eye infection untreated can lead to vision loss. The vet can diagnose and treat his eye. I would take him into a vet now to get this eye treated. In the meantime, you can use a damp soft cloth to wipe any excessive discharge. Best of luck, I hope this helps!
