My dog's flat paws and limp stumped the vet. What's going on?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Goldendoodle | Female | spayed | 55 lbs

Hi my dog (golden doodle, 55 lbs, 9 years old) has a thing with her paws where they appear flat. We took her to the vet today and they said they had never seen anything like it. She didn’t yip in pain or anything like that, but she does walk with a limp. She’s got blood work done and if that doesn’t show anything she’s going to a dermatologist, but I’m extremely worried and was wondering if anything like this has been seen before. Thanks

So this is a change in her paws that has occurred over time? Are all of the paws equally affected? did your vet take xrays? if you could resubmit your question with a picture we will do our best to help, but I'm trying to imagine what you mean by her paws appear "flat." thanks!
