My dog has severe bruising and pain after neuter. Is it an emergency?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Male | neutered | 2 years old | 13 lbs

i got my dog neutered yesterday and he woke up this morning with crazy bruising, so i call the vet who did the surgery and sent then pictures said it was just a very bad bruise. I informed them they he was refusing to eat or drink anything and wasn’t moving very much at all. And if he did walk he walked with his tail tucked in like he was in pain. So i drove all the way out to the vet for him to do blood work and give me more pay pills telling me he is fine but the bruising is now getting worse

I would take Casper into an ER vet now. That looks really bad, and it's quite concerning it's getting worse. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website. Best of luck.
