Is Cosequin a good alternative to costly Rimadyl for dog joints?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Jack Russell Terrier | Male | 9 years and 2 months old | 13 lbs

The vet gave me a prescription for rimadyl because manski had some stiffness in his hips and I noticed him moving slower. I cannot continue this pain medication due to the cost so my question is, the supplement cosequin that addresses arthritis and joint pain would that be a good alternative and I can afford that

Cosequin is a joint supplement and while it can help alleviate some of the symptoms of arthritis it is not the same as Rimadyl, a non -steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. You could talk to your vet about starting Cosequin, it’s possible that Manski might need Rimadyl less frequently if it helps. There are also some generic options that might be a little more affordable.
