My almost 5 y/o yorkie has black dirt like stuff around her vulva. It doesn’t seem to bother her though. I don’t think it’s fleas bc its only in that one spot & doesn’t seem to have any symptoms like itching or anything. However she’s not currently on flea meds bc the last 1 she took, Bravecto, caused her to have a seizure so i bathe her w/ flea shampoo & apple cider vinegar bc i don’t trust flea meds as they all seem to have seizure as a possible side effect. What could this be?

Hello. Definitely not from fleas. These are probably comedomes, or essentially black heads from some chronic irritation. It is nothing to really worry about, but you can clean the area a couple of times daily with an antibacterial skin cleanser like Hibicles ( available at all pharmacies ). Clean gently & do not scrub & the area should lighten over the next couple of weeks. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
