My one year old pug Leo keeps getting this rash on his inner thigh area. It looks really dry. Everything I read able rashes says hot spot but he doesn’t have anything wet on it and it’s not moist just super dry. I’ve tried several creams but nothing is working. He has a vet visit Tues but was hoping someone could tell me what they think.

Poor Leo! You are right that this does not look like a hot spot. It’s very possible that he could have an underlying allergy causing this rash to be a common problem. Definitely keep your appointment with you veterinarian. At home, you can try washing it daily with hand soap and rinsing it well. Once it is dry, apply a dab of coconut oil and rub it in well. Do this twice daily. The only thing is that you don’t want Leo to lick it off. I recommend he wear an elizabethan collar afterwards until the oil is fully absorbed. I hope this is helpful and please feel free to post any additional questions.
